Meet a good listener

I was raised on a farm with grandparents that lived close by. I always grew up at my grandparents feet listening to stories — so when I got into health care I decided that one of the most important things for everyone from the top down was to be able to learn about residents and listen to their stories. Not only take care of their clinical needs but take care of their psychological needs, their social needs and all those other aspects of the person. Sometimes, people will say, “Why have you done this for so many years?” Well I say, I’ve done it because I feel like I can make a difference
